In 2012 and 2014, Representative John Spiros was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly. In 2014-2016 he served as Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee; Vice Chairman of Labor, Vice Chairman of Transportation and as a member of the Criminal Justice Committee. For his last two terms he also served on the Governor’s Transportation Projects Commission.
Prior to being elected to the State Assembly, John was a City Alderman in Marshfield, first elected in 2005 and served through 2013. He is a member of the Marathon County Farm Bureau, a member of the Marshfield Elks Lodge 665, and past member of the Marshfield Rotary Club. He also works in the private sector as the Vice President of Safety and Claims Management for a major transportation company in Marshfield WI. In 2014 he was elected as President of the Transportation Industry Defense Association;
John is a Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving proudly for 6 years. As a member of an "elite" security squad the 3906 SSS at Offutt Air Force Base Nebraska, tasked with protecting the 26 generals and the command center for the Strategic Air Command. After the US Air Force he served as a police officer, for the cities of McKinney and Rowlett, Texas.
John is married to Rebecca, who is a nurse at the Marshfield Clinic, and together they have 5 adult children, 2 grandchildren (soon to be 3 grandchildren). They have one son in college; his youngest son is employed in the private industry, his daughter is an educator who teaches children with cognitive disabilities and her husband is currently in residency at a hospital in Ohio; their oldest son is self employed in construction and their oldest daughter is employed in the business sector.
