Candidate Biography

From candidate Facebook page

I grew up in the small town of Mayville, with a love for the outdoors. Like many people in Wisconsin, I learned the value of hard work early, I worked on local farms picking stones, milking cows and bailing hay. At 14 I started at the local hardware store and took pictures for the weekly newspaper through high school. After high school I went on to college at UW Fond du lac and later attended the Milwaukee Police Academy and then WI Department of Corrections Academy where I spent 5 years as an officer at Waupun Correctional Institution.
I currently work as a Private Investigator. Every day I use the training received in both academies to help the public. I am married to Cassie, who I have been with for 12 years. We have 3 dogs and live in Waupun, in our 2nd home. We spent the first few years here restoring our Victorian home back to its historic beauty. We now spend our free time working in our yard gardening and spending time with family and friends.
In the past year I have watched how the situation of our great State of Wisconsin has affected those around me. As a political outsider, I look at things differently. I believe the government should govern for the people, not business. I will serve the people of the 53rd Assembly District by contributing my experience, education, training, and a strong desire to help find solutions to the issues facing Wisconsin, including the economy, agriculture, education, public safety, and the environment.
Restoring collective bargaining rights is a top priority. I have spent my adult life as a civil servant, serving the public. I uniquely understand public safety in regards to the state budget and I am eager to work for the people. Hard working people have not made this financial mess were in, and I refuse to stand by and watch hard working Wisconsinites continually be attacked and told that this situation is their fault. Hard workers aren’t the problem. It’s time for corporations to pay there fare share. No more free rides.
The 53rd Assembly District is a slice of Wisconsin. It represents small towns, farmers, medium sized villages, some suburban area, and part of the City of Oshkosh. This district was redrawn more Democratic than it was previously, making it a near even district. It is currently represented by Rep. Dick Spanbauer (R), a moderate Republican that voted against the Walker budget. With his retirement, this is an excellent opportunity for a pick up for our side.
