Candidate Biography

Occupation: Retired Disabled Veteran/ Retired Small Business Manager.
Family: Mother and Father, two brothers, a sister and 14 nieces and nephews.
Education: Graduate De Soto High School. Attended UW Center Richland, UWM and Western Technical College
Public Service: Retired Desert Storm Veteran who lost his leg in service to the country. President Elect Viroqua Rotary Club, Member of the Board of Directors for the Viroqua Community Theater, Former Board of Directors member of the Westby Housing Authority, Member of Viroqua Eagles, Former President of Professionals in Design, Family and Hospitality, Former Food Club President for Western Technical College, Executive Board Member of the Vernon County Democratic Party.
Tom has lived his whole life in the 96th Assembly District. Tom grew up along the Mississippi River in the small town of De Soto. After college Tom joined the United States Air Force. He was injured during Desert Storm almost dying from his injuries. He went through 28 major surgeries and finally lost his leg to a bone infection. Tom was medically retired from the Air Force and has been an active member of our community ever since. Tom has been small business manager, managing a family grocery store. He also had been a District Manager for a Dairy Queen Franchise. Tom has always spent a lot of his time giving back to his community through such things like Rotary Club, the local community theater. He truly lives his life by the motto: Service above Self.
