Biography

Peter Theron is a teacher and self-employed computer programmer, having earned his Ph.D in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has taught courses in statistics, mathematics and computer science at UW-Madison, UW-Whitewater and Beloit College. For the past eight years he has taught courses in industrial programming for computer professionals.
Theron is a supporter of limited government, and has criticized the $700 billion bailout package that passed Congress this fall. He says he would rather see a capital gains tax "holiday," as well as a reduction in the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 25 percent.
He also opposes more government involvement in health care, and instead favors forming health care buying pools for individuals. He supports drilling for oil offshore and in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
Before coming to Madison for graduate school, Theron earned his B.A. in Statistics at Princeton University. He currently lives in Madison with his wife, Amy.
