Biography
From candidate Web site:
I was born in Fond du Lac, WI, the oldest of two sons born to Peter and Sandra James. My father spent 40 years as a High School teacher in Markesan, the small central Wisconsin town that I grew up in. My mother recently joined my father in retirement after more than twenty years as a legal secretary also in Markesan. After graduating from Markesan High School, I attended UW-Whitewater to play baseball, which I did my freshman and sophomore years. After four years I earned my BBA in Marketing and moved to Oshkosh.
I spent the next several years trying my hand at a variety of business ventures including helping to help start a successful live entertainment company as well as a new home construction company. The construction company could not be deemed a rousing success but it did provide me with a wide variety of invaluable experiences. These experiences led to the opportunity to work with another construction company out of Appleton that gave me the chance to go on five mission trips (3 to Mexico and 2 to Venezuela). Of the many things I learned on those mission trips the two most important were an appreciation of how God has blessed me and how blessed I am to live in the greatest country in the world.
In 1999 I moved to Madison and soon met my future wife, Martina and her 3 beautiful daughters (now 18, 16, and 13). We were married in May 2002 and moved to Plain, WI. Our son was born in July of the following year. With our rather large family a good career with chances for growth was important and I have had that the last 8 years, with a telecommunications company in Madison. I have held several sales positions with this company including selling services to both residential and commercial customers. For the last year and a half I have been a supervisor of a sales force in the residential call center.
During this time I found I have an ability to find out what people need to be successful and help guide them to fully maximize their abilities. This skill to be able to listen, ascertain the nature of a situation and then either solve the problem or make a good opportunity better, is what I plan to bring to the Governorship. My widely diverse background both professionally and personally has brought me in touch with people from all over the state from every walk of life. I have worked, played and prayed with all of these people and want to now help the people of Wisconsin take back this great state from politicians from both sides of the aisle that seem to have forgotten that they work for us and that common sense is the best trait in a leader.
It is going to be a long fight that I know we can win.
