My husband David and I moved to Balsam Lake 17 years ago to raise our two children, Sam and Margaret, who are a senior and a junior in high school. My husband David and I own a small internet-based business in Milltown. Prior to moving here, I was a TV producer in the Twin Cities for PBS at Channel 2, The Discovery Channel, and local TV stations and video production companies. I am a graduate and involved alumna of Grinnell College in Iowa. Eleven years ago, I was diagnosed with Stage 3C Breast Cancer, which informs my stance on affordable health care for all, accessible health care for rural residents, and it prompted me to volunteer with a vengeance when I recovered. I have been an active classroom and committee volunteer at my school, and ran our district’s Girl Scout and Soccer programs, and served on the Half Moon Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District. I am co-chair of the Polk County Democrats, and actively participate in the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, the County Chairs Association, and the 7th Congressional District Executive Committee. I am a supporting member of Polk Burnett Indivisible, Citizen’s Action of Western WI, and OurRevolutionWisconsin. I was elected a delegate for Bernie Sanders to the 2016 Democratic National Convention. We live in rural Milltown township with our 2 cats, Jack and Muffin, and newly re-homed dog Rugby. My husband’s family have been coming to Half Moon Lake since the 1930’s and this beautiful lake, great schools, and safe community are what brought us to Wisconsin.
