Candidate Biography

I am a deeply-rooted, Brown County native, raised in West De Pere. My husband Tim and I are proud parents of our three children; Madeline (28), Marie (24), and Michael (23). My father is a retired Journeyman Electrician and my mother was a homemaker. My civic and community engagement began early in life as an active 4-H member, competing every year at the Brown County Fair in gardening, sewing, and art. Through my community and family, I learned the value of hard work. My career path began at the Ashwaubenon McDonald’s on Oneida, where I served two nights a week during my junior and senior years at West De Pere High School. After High School graduation, I studied practical nursing at NWTC and completed five years of clinical work, which led me to join a growing insurance company in De Pere, Wisconsin, Employers Group, later acquired by Humana. While working there full-time, I earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Silver Lake College. Wearing many hats and developing wide-ranging skills, I ultimately became Humana Vice President of National Service Operations. As a VP, I was responsible for the work lives of 5,000 employees and a $170 million budget, and was proud to have our Team nationally recognized for commitment and service to customers. In 2005, I joined Associated Financial Group (AFG) as a VP and Consultant for Health Care Benefits and was honored to be named “Rookie of the Year” as one of the top sales consultants. Fulfilling a desire to directly serve my community, I became the CEO of the YWCA Greater Green Bay in 2011. During my rewarding time with the organization I completed a $3.3 million Capital Campaign and opened the Women’s Empowerment Center, offering Family GED Classes and work-force training. In early 2016, our Childcare and Learning Center achieved the highly coveted NAEYC 5 Star Accreditation. Also under my leadership, we enhanced YW programming and helped community members in need by developing partnerships with Beacon House, Literacy Green Bay, NWTC, the Multicultural Center, the Hispanic Resource Center, Howe Resource Center, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. In 2014, I earned my master’s degree in business administration from UW-Oshkosh. I am a graduate of Leadership Green Bay, community-based, experiential learning leadership program developed by the Green Bay Chamber of Commerce. After completion, I became chair of the Leadership Green Bay Alumni Board, and have also served on the Children’s Museum Board, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Girls Scouts of North Eastern Wisconsin. Most Recently I graduated from EMERGE WI, a program that trains democratic women across the state to run for office. Currently, I am a commissioner for the City of Green Bay on the Redevelopment Committee. I most recently graduated from Emerge Wisconsin, an organization that trains Democratic women running for local, state, and federal offices. My life experiences have lead me to my purposeful decision to run for State Assembly – District 4 Representative. I have a passion for helping our community solve problems through professional and volunteer-based work and strive to create a lasting benefit to District 4 and be a voice for all in Madison.
